PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for assembling an optical module, which prevents an optical coupling efficiency between a light emitting element and an optical fiber from getting low, and to provide the optical module. SOLUTION: A reference optical axis coordinate and an optical axis adjustment completion coordinate in a second holder are each obtained (S2 and S3) and an eccentric amount is obtained from these coordinates (S4). The outer diameter portion of the second holder is machined according to the obtained eccentric amount, or a preparation ferrule holder corresponding to the eccentric amount is selected from preparation ferrule holders (S5 and S10).
