PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a reclining apparatus which facilitate the assembly of a wedge-like member between an external gear and an internal gear and contributes to the reduction of manufacture costs as well in a taumel type reclining apparatus capable of stepless angle adjustment of a seat back. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the reclining apparatus wherein the external gear and the internal gear are provided on one and the other of a seat cushion and the seat back, the circular hole of a large diameter and the cylinder part of a small diameter provided with respective shafts as a center are formed on one and the other of the external gear and the internal gear, and the external gear and the internal gear are relatively swung and rotated while changing an engaging part by imparting rotating force to a pair of wedge-like members inserted between the inner surface of the circular hole and the outer surface of the cylinder part, the manufacturing method has a step of measuring the shape of the contact area of the inner surface of the circular hole and the outer surface of the cylinder part in the pair of wedge-like members before the assembly, and a step of determining the diameter size of at least one of the cylinder part outer surface and the circular hole inner surface on the basis of the measured value and executing work.
