This discloses a method for laying a sheet 27 over the lower surface of a horizontal base material 21 by supporting the base material 21 at the lower surface by a first support means 15, placing the sheet 27 immediately below and in facing the lower surface of the base material 21, supporting the sheet 27 at the lower surface by a second support means 25 which is horizontally spaced away from the first support means 15, putting the sheet 27 and the base material 21 surfaces partially in contact with each other and moving the first support means 15 away from the base material 21.
