PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an image through the use of a new color region conversion processing.

SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus for an image display unit capable of reproducing colors beyond a prescribed color region includes an image processing unit for performing an image processing of original image data presenting an original image, forming processed image data and supplying the processed image data to the image display unit. The image processing unit includes: a first processing part for performing a first kind of processing to a first kind of pixels included in the original image; and a second processing part for processing a second kind of processing to a second kind of pixels included in the original image. The first kind of processing can set the color of the first kind of pixels as the color beyond the prescribed color region. The second kind of processing can set the color of the second kind of pixels as the color included in the prescribed color region.
