PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase more the organizing length of a freight train, using a coupler having the same strength as a conventional one. SOLUTION: This is an auxiliary locomotive 200, which is to be coupled with the rear of the freight train, and this is provided with a remote control means 12b, which receives information including a power running command from the main locomotive 100 at the head of the train, a position detecting means 15, which detects the present position of its own vehicle, and a control means, which modifies the power running command received with the above remote control apparatus 12b, based on the present position detected with the above position detecting means, the route data, and the length of the train, and controls its own train by the modified power running command.
