摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module capable of achieving down-sizing and high yield by greatly reducing the number of mounting steps while keeping low-loss optical characteristics and high reliability. SOLUTION: The optical module comprises: at least a first light-emitting device 11 and a first light-receiving device 12 which are arranged on a submount 10; and an optical multiplexer/demultiplexer 2 having a first wavelength selective filter 6 on the front face of a first substrate 5 which is a parallel flat plate and has transmissivity to passing light, and a mirror 8 disposed on one face opposite to the other face. The extending direction of the optical multiplexer/demultiplexer is fixed in the CAN package 3 being tilted by an angleθ(wherein,θ≠2Nπ, N=0, 1, 2, etc.) in a two-dimensional cross section with respect to the face of the submount, outgoing light from the first light-emitting device passes through the first wavelength selective filter and the first substrate and enters an optical fiber outside the cap, and outgoing light from the optical fiber enters the optical multiplexer/demultiplexer and is reflected by the first wavelength selective filter and further reflected by the mirror, exits the optical multiplexer/demultiplexer to enter the first light-receiving device.
