PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing direction discriminating apparatus, a photographing direction discriminating method, and a photographing direction discriminating program by which the photographing direction of an image by a capsule endoscope can easily be discriminated by sensing whether the advancing direction of the capsule endoscope and the photographing direction of the image are the same or not, and to provide a computer-readable recording medium on which the photographing direction discriminating program is recorded. SOLUTION: This photographing direction discriminating apparatus 250 includes a movement vector calculating apparatus 223, and a photographing direction sensing apparatus 224. In this case, the movement vector calculating apparatus 223 is used for discriminating the photographing direction of the capsule endoscope 101 which photographs the inside of a living body, and calculates a movement vector of the image photographed by the capsule endoscope 101 which is received from the capsule endoscope 101 by time series. The photographing direction sensing apparatus 224 senses whether the advancing direction of the capsule endoscope 101 and the photographing direction of the image are the same or opposite from the movement vector being calculated by the movement vector calculating apparatus 223.
