The shaft has a casing with two fiber layers comprising different fiber orientations and a profile e.g. rounded polygon profile, with rounded edges, where the fiber is selected from a group consisting of carbon fiber, glass fiber, aramid fiber and/or basalt fiber. The shaft is made of a composite material such as plastic, metal or ceramic, where radii of the rounded edges are equal to 5-15 percent of radii of the shaft. The profile is formed rotationally symmetric to an axis of the shaft, where the casing of the hollow shaft has same cross section over the entire length of the shaft. An independent claim is also included for a functional element comprising a profile contact area corresponding with a wave profile.
