<p>A backlight unit (3) including an LED package (light source) (11) and an optical waveguide (14), wherein a light emission section (12) is provided in opposition to an incidence surface (14a) on the optical waveguide (14) at the optical waveguide side of the LED package (11) for emitting light from the LED package (11) toward the optical waveguide (14).
