Class 17(2) [Also in Group VIII] Heel wedges, of soft pliable material (e.g. foam rubber) are cut from a coated web made by feeding a sheet 2 of backing material past the mouth of a trough 6 containing mouldable material, flowing the mouldable material 5 through the mouth of the trough on to the surface of the backing material, passing the resulting composite sheet beneath a scraper blade 9 having a shaped edge 10, so as to form a composite sheet with ridges running along it (see Group VIII). After the mouldable material has been cured, the composite sheet may be cut to form wedge heels, by passing the sheet beneath a multiple knife operated to cut a number of wedge-shaped articles from the sheet, contiguous edges of the articles being cut by one knife edge. The backing material may be, e.g. a woven cloth of natural or synthetic fibres such as nylon, a sheet of plastic material or a pile fabric.</p> |
