A METHOD FOR CONSTRUCTING A CARTILAGEOUS PART FOR IMPLANTATION IN A SUBJECT IN NEED HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY FORMED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE SHAPE OF HUMAN TRACHEA BY USING NASAL SEPTUM CHONDROCYTES, MINCING THE NASAL SEPRUM CARTILAGE WITH 0.6OLLAGENASE, SUSPENDING IN THE MEDIA MIXTURE OF HAM'S F-12: DMEM (1:1) = 10FBS AND MIXING WITH PLURONIC F127 HYDROGEL, THEN PAINTING OVER MEDPORE, A SCAFFOLDING MATERIAL. THE TISSUE ENGINEERED HUMAN CARTILAGE IS SIMILAR TO NATIVE HUMAN HYALINE CARTILAGE AS SHOWN BY HAEMATOXYLIN & EOSIN (H&E) AND SAFRANIN-O STAINING. |
