<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device for a high-pressure discharge lamp which never extinguishes the lamp even when a shock is applied on a projector at the time of resetting it after movement. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting device for the high-pressure discharge lamp includes a DC power supply, a DC outputting means for regulating a current to the high-pressure discharge lamp on receipt of a DC output power from the DC power supply, an AC converting means for converting the DC output of the DC outputting means to an AC power to supply it to the high-pressure discharge lamp, a detecting means for detecting the voltage or the current of the high-pressure discharge lamp, and a switching means for switching the output-power characteristic of the DC outputting means on receipt of the detecting result by the detecting means. The lighting device is structured to return to a rated output-power mode at a predetermined timing, by switching the output-power characteristic of the DC outputting means from the rated output-power mode to a high output-power mode with higher output power than the rated mode by the switching means, when the detected output voltage reaches an uppermost voltage level or the detected output current reaches a lowermost current level. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
