PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near-infrared absorption filter including a thiazole cyanin compound, in detail, to provide a practical near-infrared absorption filter including the thiazole cyanin compound and superior in invisibility and light resistant fastness. SOLUTION: This near-infrared absorption filter is characterized by including a cyanin compound expressed by a general formula (1). In the formula, R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>are respectively independently an aliphatic group or an aromatic group, and R<SB>3</SB>and R<SB>4</SB>are a hydrogen atom or a univalent group, and L<SB>1</SB>is composed of 5 or 7 methine, and at least one is a methine chain having methine substituted with phenyl.
