PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of accurately deciding whether an original is blank without reference to the kind of the original. SOLUTION: The density of a page of the original is found to decide whether the density of the page is less than a density threshold, and a page whose density is decided to be less than the density threshold is regarded as a blank page to inhibit the page from being copied to a recording form. Further, there are a variety of originals which are colored, use recycled paper, and so on and further have their grounds colored or with density, so it is made possible to adjust and set density thresholds according to the kinds of originals, thereby accurately deciding whether an original is blank without reference to the kind of the original.
