<p>Since conventionally there is no special regulation on a hand-held grinder when the position of a wheel guard covering the side of a whetstone to prevent particulates from scattering is adjusted, the particulate scattering prevention function may be impaired due to excessive rotation about the spindle axis. The particulate scattering prevention function is exhibited surely in this invention by preventing excessive rotation when the position of a wheel guard is adjusted. The wheel guard (20) is provided with a stopper protrusion (27) and a stopper abutting portion (8e) is provided on the gear housing side (8). The position adjustment range is regulated by making the stopper protrusion (27) abut against the stopper abutting portion (8e) at a position where the wheel guard (20) is rotated about 60 degree in the rotational direction of the whetstone.</p>
