PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-profile and power-saving bill counter counting many kinds of bills so that a bundle of bills placed on a hopper are automatically positioned at one longitudinal end by their own weight. SOLUTION: The bill counter A comprises: a hopper 2 for placing a bundle B of bills thereon; a conveyance path 9 for conveying bills (b) hopping out of the hopper 2; a sensor unit 10 for verifying the bills (b) and identifying their kind, etc.; diverters 11, 12 for sorting and guiding the bills according to commands identified; impellers 3, 4 for delivering the sorted bills (b); stackers 5, 6 for stocking the bills (b); and a bill counting means. The hopper 2 forms both V-shaped inclined faces 2b that descend to a positioning end at one longitudinal end of each bill (b).
