PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support a product design operation to make it possible to design and develop a product within a short period. SOLUTION: A product design support system generates an L-line orthogonal table relative to a set design parameter, executes virtual prototyping for a multiplicity of times by adding a size tolerance of each portion to each of the L-sets of design parameter groups, and generates a response curved surface model by making a response curved surface by processing the mean value and the dispersion value in regard to the L sets of the evaluation indexes obtained by the above virtual prototyping. Further, the product design support system generates a factor effect diagram of the design parameters on the basis of each evaluation index, examines the above factor effect diagram, generates arbitrary combinations of the design parameters having sensitivity to the evaluation index, generates a multiplicity of design solutions obtained by arbitrarily combining the entire design parameters which can achieve a design target value, by applying the above arbitrary combinations to the response curved surface model, and further, selects a most likely design candidate group by filtering to extract the most likely design candidate group achieving an evaluation index limit value specified by the design solution group, so as to present it to a user.
