PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical system with a wavelength selecting device, which is suitable for a video camera, an electronic still camera, etc., ensures inconspicuous chromatic aberration, has high optical performance over the whole screen, and is low-cost, small and lightweight. SOLUTION: The optical system with the wavelength selecting device includes, in order from an object along an optical axis, an objective optical group OB composed of optical elements having refractive power and an aperture stop, a no-power optical group PL composed of optical elements having no refractive power, and an imaging device I. The no-power optical group PL includes the wavelength selecting device SC for making short wavelength light selectively substantially non-transparent.
