Passive pointing/touching interface method related to pointing or/and touchig based interfaces for the finger's or/and passive pen-like object's control manipulations. The views of selectable members of the graphical user interface (GUI) comprise certain sequences of the colour or/and brightness screen representation of said views. Pointing/touching object reflects light from selectable member's views. The reflected light comprises said sequences. This light is received by at least one optical sensor which produces the corresponding signal. The magnitude of signal impulses is compared with a predetermined threshold, and if said threshold is exceeded then the present interface determines information carried into signal impulses. Using determined information the present invention finds pointed/touched selectable member and selects it.
