<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of replacing support bearings stepwise with new support bearings of which the rated load is increased so that the replacement cost required at one time is reduced and the downtime of a rolling mill due to the replacement work is made as short as possible. <P>SOLUTION: A support bearing 22 is replaced with a new support bearing 122 by conducting a first step and a second step. In the first step, an old inner ring 24 before the replacement is replaced with a new inner ring 124 having the same raceway diameter C1 as the old inner ring 24 and the axial dimension A1 of the raceway face 126 larger than the old inner ring 24 so that the rolling roll 14 can be supported by the new inner ring 124, an old outer ring 23 and an old cylindrical roller 25. In the second step, the old cylindrical roller 25 is replaced with a new cylindrical roller 125 having an axial dimension E1 larger than the old cylindrical roller 25, and the old outer ring 23 is replaced with a new outer ring 123 having the axial dimension of the raceway face 123a larger than the old outer ring 23. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
