PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a primer suitable for a PCR for detection and determination of a nitrate-reducing bacterium.

SOLUTION: The primer and a primer set are useful for a real time PCR for detection and determination of a nitrate-reducing bacterium and has a specific base sequence. The biological treatment method includes forming a mixed phase of nitrate-reducing bacterium-containing water to be treated and the nitrate-reducing bacterium in a bath and carrying out the reduction of nitrate nitrogen with the nitrate-reducing bacterium.
