PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curable resin composition for an optical material which ensures a small shrinkage upon curing and yields a cured product having high transparency, a high refractive index and high hardness, with respect to a curable resin composition containing a vinyl polymer obtained from a heterogeneous polymerizable monomer. SOLUTION: The curable resin composition for an optical material contains a vinyl polymer having a repeating structural unit represented by formula (1) [wherein R<SP>1</SP>is a 2-8C alkylene group; R<SP>2</SP>is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; and m is a positive number] and zirconium oxide particles having an average particle diameter of 1-100 nm.
