<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an electrode catalyst for a fuel cell of which methanol oxidation activity is high even at a high carrying rate, being especially effective for a direct methanol fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The electrode catalyst for a fuel cell, wherein fine metal particles containing Ru are carried on conductive carbon carriers, is characterized by using M<SB>2</SB>RuX<SB>6</SB>(M is at least one kind from among H, Li, Na, K and NH<SB>4</SB>, and X is at least one kind from among Cl, Br, I and NO<SB>3</SB>) as a precursor of Ru. Compared with a conventional PtRu carry carbon catalyst prepared using Ru material of a form valence of 3, methanol oxidation activity per catalyst mass and catalyst superficial area is improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
