PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance responsiveness of a CO<SB>2</SB>concentration detection system by presuming an in-cabin CO<SB>2</SB>concentration by an output value of a CO<SB>2</SB>sensor. SOLUTION: The CO<SB>2</SB>concentration detection system is provided with the CO<SB>2</SB>sensor (carbon dioxide gas detection means) 9 applied to the vehicle provided with an air conditioner and detecting the CO<SB>2</SB>concentration in the vehicle at a predetermined sampling period; and a carbon dioxide gas presumption means for calculating a presumption value F<SB>n+1</SB>of the CO<SB>2</SB>concentration based on the detection value by the CO<SB>2</SB>sensor 9. The carbon dioxide gas presumption means makes the presumption value F<SB>n+1</SB>calculated by the following numerical formula: F<SB>n+1</SB>=X<SB>n</SB>×(τ/T)-X<SB>n-1</SB>×ä(τ/T)-1} to the presumption CO<SB>2</SB>concentration when X<SB>n</SB>is the detection value of the CO<SB>2</SB>concentration at this time, X<SB>n-1</SB>is the detection value of the CO<SB>2</SB>concentration before one period, T is a sampling period andτis time constant.
