PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device and an image pickup method capable of eliminating MIX lights to acquire excellent picture quality. SOLUTION: The image pickup device includes: a gain acquisition part 134 for acquiring a gain of color signal which adjusts white balance of a subject image; lighting parts 124 and 126 having light sources capable of lighting color temperature adjustment when lighting the subject; and a lighting control unit 122 for calculating the lighting color temperature on the basis of the acquired gain and controlling the lighting color temperature adjustment in the lighting parts on the basis of the calculated lighting color temperature.
