PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To controllably output character information in a form which is preferable to careful driving. SOLUTION: A road communication system is provided with: a road-side wireless communication device 100 which is installed on a road side; and an in-vehicle device 200 which is mounted to a vehicle and receives and reproduces data transmitted from the communication part of the road-side wireless communication device 100. In addition, the control part of the in-vehicle device 200 perform control to output and display the prescribed number of characters or the number of characters which is smaller than the prescribed number when the vehicle mounting the in-vehicle device 200 on it travels and the reception content data that the device 200 receives are character information.
