PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaft seal device capable of preventing deterioration or damage caused by high temperature gas and facilitating the maintenance. SOLUTION: The shaft seal device comprises a labyrinth seal part 11 annularly arranged facing the outer circumferential surface of a rotary shaft 3 rotatably supported by a bearing base, a support section attached to the bearing base so as to support the labyrinth seal part 11 concentrically with the rotary shaft 3, seal plates 31 each formed in a ring-like shape extending radially outward from the outer peripheral surface of the labyrinth seal part 11 and divided in a plurality of sections in the circumferential direction, and a slide plate part 12 having slide support portions 32, 33 attached to a casing 5 enclosing the rotary shaft 3 so as to support the seal plates 31 movably in the radial direction.
