PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine provided with a simple structure for keeping communication among a water jacket, a cooling water tank, a cooling water pump, and the like. SOLUTION: In the engine having the cooling water pump 6 disposed above a cylinder block 4 and/or a cylinder head 3, and keeping communication between the cooling water tank 6 and water jackets 12 formed inside of the cylinder block 4 and/or the cylinder head 3 by piping, a joint 38 is put between the water jacket 12 and the cooling water tank 6, the joint 38 is disposed at a cooling water inlet of the cooling water tank 6, and a short cylindrical flange part 42 is provided around a middle part of the joint 38.
