A space-time coding method using a partitioned position modulation alphabet is provided to increase the binary rate of system by making the extension of the initial alphabet to belong to the several sub-alphabets. A space-time coding method using a partitioned position modulation alphabet relates to the space-time coding method for the MIMO-UWB system having the antenna of P uses information symbols belonging to M-PPM. M is the multiple of P. The modulation alphabet is divided into sub-alphabets of P corresponding to the continuous range of modulation spots. The UWB transmitter system having two radiating elements is provided. A space-time encoder(320) receives the block of the information symbol S = (sigma1, sigma2, sigma3, sigma4) belonging to alphabet and computes the deformation which is obtained through the substitution of the column and/or row. The UWB modulators(331,332) produce the modulated pulse UWB signals corresponding to the column vector sigma1+ sigma2 and Delta (sigma3+ Фsigma4) and transmits. The UWB modulators(341,342) produce the modulated pulse UWB signals corresponding to the column vector sigma3+ sigma4 and sigma1+ Фsigma2 and transmits.
