The blanket comprises a powered fan 30 which assists air or fluid to move within a passage next to the horse's skin, when the blanket is worn. The passage may comprise at least one air intake, at least one air exit, the air passage interconnecting the intakes and exits. The passage may comprise one or more channels defined by an air or fluid permeable material layer, such as an open weave fabric, open cell foam, a honeycomb matrix, a solid material with a plurality of hollow gas permeable tubes, a low density fibrous mat or a fleece like material. In some embodiments (fig 4), heating elements are provided. Power for the fan may be provided by a battery, photovoltaic or thermovoltaic cell, or mains supply. |
