The invention provides a sound absorbing material in the form of a plate 10, the material comprising a base polymeric material such as medium density polyethylene (MDPE), and additives comprising a coupling agent such as a silane coupling agent and a strengthening additive such as calcium carbonate. The invention also provides a method for manufacturing the sound absorbing material and to a delivery apparatus 1 including the sound absorbing material 10 and positioned on the delivery apparatus so as to reduce noise levels which arise when the delivery apparatus is moved.
