Cutting element for a saw chain

The component (1) has a base (2) formed of metal blank. A cutting tooth (3) made of hard metal partially and laterally overlaps a recess (6) that is formed in a running direction (A) of the component. The cutting tooth is connected with the base by hard solder e.g. silver solder, in form-fit manner. A connecting leg (8) widely extend downwards such that a lower edge (13) lies deeper that the recess. The leg has an edge (15) that is bent upwards at an area of adjacent rivet opening (4), where the area moves rearward in the running direction of the component.
