Method and device for suppressing the rattling of work rollers on a roll stand

The method involves generating a pressure change in a hydraulic medium which impinges a roller gap of the roll stand adjusting a hydraulic cylinder (6). The pressure change is directly produced in a pressure chamber (24) of the hydraulic cylinder adjacent to a piston (8) where volume of the pressure chamber is changed. The pressure change is produced after the concept of an active increase of the stiffness. An independent claim is included for a device for suppressing the vibration of the rollers of a roll stand.
