A digital image processing device and a control method are provided to give effects to an area where a particular object is in by recognizing the particular object from an inputted image and capable of storing the changed image. An image is inputted to an image input unit(110) from outside. A first storage(120) stores one or more registration images. In case the registration image is included in the inputted image, a control unit(130) provides an image effect for the registration image area included in the inputted image and produces a target image. The control unit comprises a recognition unit(131), a comparison unit(132), and an image processor(133). The recognition unit recognizes human face from an inputted image. The comparison unit determines whether the face recognized in the recognition unit is one of the registration images or not. In case the face recognized in the recognition unit is one of the registration images, the image processor produces a target image by giving a luminous effect to the face area of the inputted image.
