The present invention is related to the process for the preparation of 6-substituted-imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole-5-sulfonyl halides of formula I
comprising gradually adding a compound of formula II
into a heated solution of R 1 SO 3 H
where R 1 represents F or Cl, and
R 2 represents H, F, Cl, Br, I, (C 1 -C 6 )alkyl, (C 1 -C 6 )alkoxy or trifluoromethyl.
