Luminous and non-luminous combination patterns in the n-th to m-th sub-fields (m and n are positive integers smaller than the number of all sub-fields, and m>n) in first to fourth pixels vertically and laterally adjacent to respective areas on a display panel are different from each other. The gradation values displayed respectively by a first and second pixels located in one diagonal position out of first to fourth pixels vertically and laterally adjacent to respective areas on a display panel are lower than an average of gradation values displayed by first to fourth pixels, and the gradation values displayed respectively by a third and fourth pixels located in the other diagonal position are higher than an average of gradation values displayed by first to fourth pixels.
