807,724. Two-part couplings; holders for thermionic valves. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. Jan. 1, 1957 [Jan. 17, 1956], No. 1625/56. Class 38 (1). A socket connector comprises an elongated insulating body 1 having a groove 4 in one face which is intersected by a number of transverse slots 5 extending through to opposite faces of the body and adapted to accommodate socket contacts consisting of metal strip bent to U- shape with a double-thickness portion 8 laterally off-set from the base of the U forming a terminal tag, the ends of the limbs of the U being inwardly and reversely bent to form contact arms 11, 11a. Bulges 7, 7a formed when the limbs are bent, snap into recesses 6, 6a at the ends of a slot 5 when the contact is inserted therein from the rear of the body until the tag 8 abuts the rear face of the body. Larger bulges may be formed on the bribe to enable the contact to float in the body (Fig. 4, not shown). The socket may receive a printed circuit panel, which may have a notch co-operating with a filled portion of groove 4 to prevent wrong connection, or the contacts may be arranged in a circle to form a valve-holder. Again, the tags 8 may snap into apertures in a further printed-circuit panel and may be dip-soldered to the conductors thereon.
