<p>An ink cartridge to be mounted on a recording apparatus, the ink cartridge comprising: a front (7,107), a back (8,108), a top and a bottom (3,103); an ink supply port (4,104) formed in the bottom (3,103), the ink supply port (4,104) having an axis; a positioning structure (12,112) having a top surface (13,113) lying in a plane that is parallel to the axis; a circuit board (15,115) fixed on the top surface; a memory unit disposed on the circuit board; and a plurality of electrodes (14,114) disposed on the circuit board, at least some of which being in electrical communication with the memory unit; wherein the ink supply port is disposed closer to the front (7,107) than to the back (8,108); and the positioning structure is disposed on the back closer to the bottom than to the top and at a position offset to one side of the ink cartridge in the widthwise direction.
