Flexible blades 2, on a turbine, allow the turbine to rotate in the same direction, even if the flow is reversed. An example of its use is in a wave generator, where a water wave forces air backwards and forwards through the turbine, rotating it in one direction only. Another example of its use is to affix the blades to a vehicle's wheels. This is stated to have the effect of assisting or driving the vehicle forward with the wind blowing through the wheel from either side of the vehicle. |
