A rail 1 supported on a sleeper 2 with an intervening insulating pad 3 is clamped by a resilient clamp 4 itself insulated from the sleeper 2 by bearing on an insulating block 8 on the sleeper 2 and from its holding-down bolt 11 held in the sleeper 2, the bolt passing through a spigoted insulating washer 17, 18 slidingly engaged in an aperture 10 in the clamp 4 so as to allow the bolt 11 to swing perpendicular to the rail 1 without deterioration of the washer 17, 18 and whilst ensuring a uniform pressure to be exerted by the washer 17, 18 on the clamp 4. The clamp 4 may be provided with upper and lower arms 5 and 6 or with an upper arm only and the elongated apertures 10 are accordingly provided in one or both arms 5 and 6. The head 13 of the bolt 11 pivots in a bearing surface 14 of a T-shaped recess formed in the vertical web of an I-sectioned bar embedded in an extending longitudinally of the concrete sleeper 2. |
