An electric stove and a control method thereof are provided to reduce the noise generated from the MoSi2 ultra-high temperature heating element by controlling the driving voltage to stabilization voltage level and supplying it to the heating element. An electric stove comprises an MoSi2 ultra-high temperature heating element(1), a power supply unit providing driving voltage for the ultra-high temperature heating element, a start switch(20) controlling the time to start the driving voltage supply to the ultra-high temperature heating element from the power supply unit, and a control unit(50) controlling the power supply unit. When the start switch is turned on, the driving voltage is supplied to the heating element while gradually increasing from the initial level to the stabilized level. After the driving voltage is supplied at the stabilized level for a stabilization time, the driving voltage is boosted to the operation level which is higher than the stabilized level and the boosted voltage is supplied to the heating element.
