A polyester film is provided to show excellent slip properties and high transparency while having low haze value, thereby being used for producing optical component films for electronic devices. A polyester film contains 50-3,000ppm of barium sulfate coated with alumina having 0.1-5 micron of mean particle size on a basis of polyester resin. A method for preparing the polyester film consists of the following steps of: mixing ethylene glycol and one or more monomers selected from the group consisting of dimethylterephthalate, dimethylnaphthalate dicarboxylic acid, terephthalic acid and naphthalene dicarboxylic acid; esterifying the mixture; dispersing the barium sulfate coated with alumina in the ethylene glycol and inputting the barium sulfate-dispersed ethylene glycol into the esterified mixture; and ester-polycondensing the mixture in the presence of catalyst.
