A seat assembly 1, comprises at least one seat, a forward beam 9 and at least two legs 2a and 2b by which the forward beam is supported, the at least one seat comprising two side members 11, 12 each having a forward end and an aft end, a seat base 23 and a seat back assembly 51, 52 supported by and between the side members wherein the two side members are supported solely by the forward ends of the side members 11 and 12 being attached to the forward beam 9. The seat back assembly may comprise a back frame 51 secured to a back beam 19 by clamps, a torsion spring maintaining the back frame in an upright position. A back cushion 52 may be connected to a seat base 24 by hinges. Another aspect relates to the construction of a leg 2a, 2b which has a foot portion with a lower surface arranged to abut a top surface of a seat track, and a reinforcing member extending downwardly from the lower surface fro reception in the track. The leg may be secured to a seat track by a plurality of studs and a shear pin. |
