A photography composition determining apparatus, a photography composition determining method, and a program are provided to obtain an optimum photography composition of a photograph by automatically determining a composition based on a relationship of the directions of plural subjects faces. A subject detection processing block(61) operates a subject detection processing including a detection control of a subject by using a captured image signal from an image sensor and a captured image data from a signal processor. A photography composition control processing block(62) decides an optimum composition and controls to get a determined optimum composition by using detection information about the inputted subjects.
