In a rotary pump of the flexible vane type the impeller 40 is moulded to a sleeve 56 which is mounted on the shaft 46 by one or more dimples 58 engaging corresponding recesses 54 formed in the shaft. Bearing means 48 and sealing means 62, 64, 66 together with bleed holes 74 are provided as shown. In a modification (see Fig. 2, not shown), the seal 62 is disposed in a counterbore formed in the casing. Specification 786,585, [Group XXIV], is referred to.
