A remote controller and a control method for the same are provided to prevent children from being exposed to the adult program by setting up a selection restriction channel at the remote controller. A key operation unit(2) comprises password registration and cancellation, a channel selection disable mode setting, and a key for the channel selection cancel mode setting. A buzzer and display units(3,6) indicate an operation state of a remote controller according to the key stroke. A memory unit(7) stores password and the selection disable channel. According to a key operation of a user, an MPU(MicroProcessing Unit) controls to set up a password and selection disable channel. In a channel selection disable mode, when the selection disable channel is inputted, the MPU controls to select the current channel or an arbitrary channel set up in advance. |
