An optical pickup and a disc drive apparatus are provided to obtain high thrust in focus operation by arranging a second thrust generating unit in a location in which magnetic force of a magnet for second focus is strong. An optical pick-up comprise: a movable base moved in a radial direction of disk-like recording medium; and an objective lens operating device posted at the movable base. The objective lens operating device comprises: a fixed block fixed to the movable base; a driving block(10) having a lens holder(12); a plurality of supporting springs connecting the fixed block and the driving block; a focus magnetic circuit having a first focus coil(13), a second focus coil(16), a first focus magnet(20) and a second focus magnet(22); and a magnetic circuit for tracking.
