A stator winding set is short-circuited via an associated converter unit. An exciter voltage signal (Uerr) applied to a rotor winding set via an associated exciter unit has a change from a variable voltage value (U1) to a second variable voltage value (U2). The stator current (Isa,Isb,Isc) is determined in each winding of the stator winding set. A rotor position angle (theta ) is calculated from x-component (Isx) and y-component of a space-vector transformation of the stator currents. If the first of the voltage values is less than the second, the rotor position angle is calculated using the formula: theta =arctan(Isy/ Isx)+pi . If the first of the voltage values is greater than the second, the rotor position angle is calculated using the formula: theta =arctan(Isy/ Isx). An independent claim is included for a system for determining a rotor position of a rotating electrical machine.
|
