SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING/RECEIVING DATA IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A system and a method for transmitting/receiving data in communication system are provided to reduce the ACK packet transport overhead by including only the mandatory field information to the BW-REQ message. A mobile station receives data packet from a base station(501). The mobile station inspects the ID field, the header checksum system field, and the ack_num field etc(503). The mobile station detects the difference of the ack_num field data of the ACK packet at t point and the ack_num field data of the ACK packet at (t-1) point(505). The mobile station produces the BW-REQ-ACK message including the ack_num difference field(507). The mobile station sends the BW-REQ-ACK message produced to the base station(509). The mobile station produces the BW-REQ message including the bandwidth request field(511). The mobile station sends the BW-REQ message to the base station(513). The mobile station receives the bandwidth needed for the ACK packet transmission from the base station through UL-MAP(515). The mobile station transmits the ACK packet to the base station(517).
