The invention relates to a vessel for metallurgical purposes intended for transporting molten metals. The tank has a metal jacket provided with a heat -- proof lining. Two lifting lugs are disposed on the outer side opposite one another , each of which is supported by a lug shield connected to the metal jacket. Th e lug shield is disposed so as to limit movement in vertical and peripheral direction. Means are fixed on the metal envelope for receiving the own weight of the lu g shield and the vessel when the vessel is in a vertical or tilted position.</ SDOAB>
